When I was in the market for some business cards I knew I didn’t want what everyone else I knew had. There are some nice ones out there, but they all feel too similar to me. I wanted to stand out from the crowd and try to come up with business cards that would also stand out. To make a good impression is not that difficult. You are judged on all of your actions everyday sometimes fairly and other times unfairly. It’s just a fact of life. We all try to get by and try to minimize negative reactions to things we do and say. Having unique business cards is just an extension of that premise. You can leverage who you are and compress a lot of information about you that will hit home with unique designs. Don’t settle for the usual or the same old-same old. It’s easier than you think.

A lot of people make the mistake of just going with what has been tried and done before and is perceived as successful. As a result, you get a lot of business cards that just conform to a standard that is becoming tired and old. People think this is what you need to do to make a good impression. They are mostly wrong. Sure, conforming is good to fit in and so people will be less likely to judge but just think what having business cards that aren’t completely outlandish but just tweak that standard. That’s a worthwhile goal. You don’t need to be outlandish or diverge from the status quo too much. Variations on a main theme that are standard can be very successful. It shows that you spent some time thinking and that will separate you from the pack.

Often overlooked and forgotten, for many it is a formality and maybe that is the case. However, you never know where opportunity will poke out its head and being prepared by having stellar business cards could surprisingly help you. Most people are always vexed and worried about not making a good impression or be prepared. It’s not hard, sometimes you will be in one of those right places at the right time and you must not blow it! Some people spend their entire lives trying to make that happen but as we know this is not usually the case. Coincidence and happenstance often rules. Having a solid and unique set of business cards for when those occasions occur will go a long way!
